Nowadays, in many circles, confessing Jesus Christ means something along the lines of telling Him you want eternal life and heaven, to avoid the whole hell thing with all its pain and suffering and you will believe in Him if He will just make your life prosperous and happy not withholding any good thing which you deserve because nothing is impossible with God, which is akin to saying I won’t worry any about what I do or my personal witness since I have received all His promises when I filled out the card at the front of the church. I will continue to live my life exactly as I please, exactly as I always have, knowing that I am safe because I have a card on file at the church. God knows my heart that I would serve Him and make Him more important if I just had the time, but He knows how much I want that new thing and if He is a Good Father he will give it to me when I ask but just in case I must work and use any and all means of manipulation and unethical behavior necessary and pursue it because He understands how important that is to me. He did not come into the world to condemn it but to offer His life up to serve me and my will.

God forbid!!!!!

This is more like it:

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment Heb. 10:26,27a

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; Heb. 10:30-32.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Heb. 10:35-38

This is not a popular subject but contrary to popular opinion and hope God is not mocked.
