My Peace I Give Unto You

The supernatural Peace of your heart is the barometer reading of God’s will in the matter.

God’s coming and abiding with us is attended with Peace. God with us is Peace with us.

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.“ Luke 2:13.

God’s coming and abiding with us is attended with Peace, not fear. Fear is grounded in evil, covert workings and misguided thoughts. Fear is faith in the enemy. In Love there is no Fear. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I John 4:18.

When there is Peace there is neither the dashing of emotions nor the excitement of emotions. Peace is not an emotion. Peace is a Gift. Just as Joy, Hope and Love are Gifts we gain in Christ. The fullness of God dwells in Him mightily (Col. 2:9). Only your will is full of emotion. If you are full of emotion you are reflecting the will of self and its hope or fear of gaining or losing its desire.

Emotions attend the soul, Gifts attend the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Gal. 5:22-23.

I am in no way suggesting that you should not enjoy or display emotions. By all means enjoy them and as often as you can. Our emotions are given by God and part of His Master Design just like our eyes and our brains. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father, our Creator. But do realize that emotions are the barometer of your will in the matter not God’s.

Blessedness — the type that Jesus talks about in the Beatitudes — is where your desire and God’s desire intersect. It is when happiness and Peace flow from the same fountain. It is when your will and God’s will are the same.

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13.

God is not after Self being miserable, just being miserable enough so that you seek Him. Sin helps in this regard to bring about repentance. Then your Self can ditch the happiness that depends on circumstances and stuff and win the Joy that comes from abiding in Him. Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Tim. 6:6.

God has given us Peace, He has give us Himself, with us — in Christ. You must learn how to abide there, how to let the fulness of the Godhead dwell in your hearts richly.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3:15.

Let Peace rule (i.e. arbitrate) in your heart. Let it put on the witness stand every thought to see if it is chasing the will of self and happiness or the will of God (and hopefully your’s too). If your Peace barometer needle is moving, beware. Peace keeps the needle at rest. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isa. 26:3.
