The Big Picture – Part 10

Plan B – Seeds That Flourish in Adverse Conditions

God in Christ, the Word become Flesh, has both entered and since left the economy of the world. We (sinful man) did not understand Him, the Light. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” John 1:11.

Yet He has not left us alone. The early disciples were infected by His Love. He has entered their hearts and ours by His Love and His Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:15-18. ESV

God, in Christ, by His Spirit is operating in and through the hearts of men. He is working in the hearts of men to bring conviction and repentance from dead works – works that God is not doing, religious works. And He is operating through the hearts of men to accomplish His will in the earth.

In the beginning, God spoke and the earth and all the fulness thereof was created. God has a purpose in mind, that He would have many sons with Him in glory. And God said… and it was so. When God declares His will it is as good as a done deal. There are many things that God has spoken that are being accomplished in the earth today.

The Word has come into the world, and just as when God spoke “in the beginning” and it was so, so is it concerning His will and declaration to have many sons.

“For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” Heb. 2:10. Jesus was made perfect through suffering and we are not greater than Him.

We are in the world but not of the world. We are sheep among wolves. It is a treacherous life for those who would follow Him to do His will. “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” John 15:20.

This present world system is the camp of the enemy. It was, and still is, hostile toward God and His sons. “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1 John 3:1. “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” John 15:18.

It is this being in the world as His representative in the earth, that brings the sufferings and persecution. It is this very suffering that makes us like Him. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philip. 2:13.

We are faced with trials and afflictions to test us and prove us, to mold us and make us. To burn up and melt away everything that is not Him. These light and momentary afflictions are producing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

So it is a demonstration of the life of Christ in us that is made manifest in these trials that are the testimony of our love for Him. That we too would deny ourselves and lay down our lives for Him.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:24.

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:10,12.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” 2 Tim. 3:12.

The Seed of God’s Word in you will flourish and grow best in adverse conditions. It is always working to accomplish the will of God in you — that you might become the sons of God.
